A recent Pharmacy Technology Report article highlighted how Kit Check partner Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters is using our AI-based solution, Bluesight for Controlled Substances to ensure that medications make it to the young patients who need them.
CHKD has been using Bluesight for Controlled Substances to track controlled substances and detect diversion risk in its 20 ORs. Bluesight is also helping CHKD to ensure medications are available for surgery patients.
Pharmacy Support Manager Dr. Andrew Stanley, PharmD, MBA, realized that ORs are particularly vulnerable to diversion as anesthesia cabinets are typically kept open during procedures to make sure drugs are readily available in these fast-moving situations. “Nothing prevents any surgeon, anesthesiologist or CRNA from taking anything,” Dr. Stanley says. “And patients are at risk from out-of-stocks if inventory isn’t properly decremented.”
CHKD has been a Kit Check customer since 2014, and was an early beta user of Bluesight. They plan to eventually convert all narcotics monitoring to Bluesight.
