Every day brings new information about the fight against the COVID-19 virus. Last week it was announced that health officials are looking at using hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment option for patients who have tested positive for the virus and are showing symptoms. While the efficacy of the treatment is yet to be determined, it is worth knowing how much supply you have on hand, and tracking where it is going in your hospital.
If you have Bluesight for Controlled Substances implemented in your hospital, you can conduct true closed-loop reconciliation of hydroxychloroquine doses, as well as other drugs that may be used for COVID-19 treatment in the future. One of our customers has already starting monitoring the drug’s use in its ICU locations.
While the drug is not classified as a controlled substance, it may end up being treated as one depending on treatment results for COVID-19 in the coming days. This medication is also used to treat patients with arthritis, HIV, and lupus, but dispenses/admins in the ICU could see an uptick if it proves useful against COVID-19 symptoms.
If you would like Bluesight to start monitoring the use of the hydroxychloroquine within your hospital, please reach out to your account manager or the Kit Check support team.
We know how hard you are working to keep your patients safe, and we cannot thank you enough. We are here to support you in any way we can.
